#33 Newsletter
A Little More Love (Rest in Peace, Olivia Newton-John), 6 Feel Good Flicks, Why You Need a Raincoat, Hey Indy: A Tasty Pretzel as Big as Your Head, The Case for Neighborhood Block Parties and More.
Hey. It’s Wednesday and I’m back on schedule with another newsletter. It’s #33. Can you believe it? I can’t. Thank you for reading and commenting. I appreciate you. I hope you’re enjoying summer.
I’m pretty much over the heat in Indy, but I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer. Do you agree? I wore the same uniform most of the summer: a V-neck t-shirt with Old Navy shorts (I mentioned them in a previous newsletter) or a pair of capri pants. It makes getting dressed easier when you only wear the same handful of clothes.
This week I'm chatting a little bit about everything. I was so sad to hear about Olivia Newton-John’s death. Her music was the soundtrack to my childhood (like so many other people) and she will be so missed.
Don’t we all need a movie that make us feel like a warm, comforting hug? I think so. I like raincoats now. Trust me. Also, don’t we all need a pretzel as big as our heads? It’s perfect for sharing. I make the case for neighborhood block parties. I’ve sprinkled a few other things as well.
I hope this is a fun week for you! Don’t forget to like what you see here and comment. Also, feel free to forward or share. -A.
When It’s Hot As …
I’m not going to lie, I whined about the heat here in Indy exactly 142 times. Well, maybe not that many, but you get the idea.
It was so hot last week that water or a soft drink didn’t really quench my thirst. I opted for a small Cherry Misty from Dairy Queen (under $3). It’s a super sweet slushy drink and you can easily share it. It hits the spot.
*I definitely recommend drinking this outside. It’s messy. I wouldn’t drink this in the car. The red drink stained my hand, but it was worth it.
**Dairy queen has a few other flavors, including lemon lime and grape.
A Little More Love … Goodbye Olivia Newton-John
I couldn’t believe it when I saw the breaking news headline on my phone… Olivia Newton-John gone too soon at 73. She was lovely and represented the soundtrack to my childhood. There are so many good memories of dancing to her music as a child and I played her music as an adult.
I can’t even count the number of times I watched Grease. I owned the sountrack (like so many people) and I have the movie and music memorized. In college, my friends and I used to lipsync and perform “Summer Nights” in the dorms during finals week. We needed the comic relief.
Olivia Newton-John will be greatly missed as a beautiful singer, actress, style icon, cancer warrior and ray of sunshine.
The Original Popsicle
Remember the heat I complained about 142 times? I stocked the freezer with popsicles. There’s nothing like the original Popsicle ($5ish for a large box at Meijer). My favorite flavor? Cherry. It’s refreshing and hits the spot. It’s a perfect late night treat. They’re low calorie too, so it’s easy to justify eating a few of them.
